what are carbon credits?

carbon credits are created when someone prevents or removes CO2 from the environment.

when you buy carbon credits and then retire these (so they cannot be onsold), you offset your CO2 emissions by effectively paying someone else to remove/prevent CO2 emissions on your behalf.

TSUNAMII purchases it's carbon credits/offsets from verified suppliers only.
our main supplier of carbon credits is Ark Climate who provide us with Australian Government NGACs (NSW Greenhouse Abatement Certificates) and act as our agents in retiring these on your behalf.

we rely on Ark Climate as they are audited on a yearly basis by international auditing firm PwC, providing us with an auditable trail for transparency and evidence purposes.

NGACs are produced from the following projects:
  • low-emission generation of electricity, such as wind, solar, and waste methane flaring (Generation)
  • activities that reduce consumption or increase efficiency of electricity use (Demand Side Abatement)
  • the capture of carbon from the atmosphere in forests per Kyoto guidelines (Carbon Sequestration)
  • activities carried out by elective participants that reduce on-site emissions not directly related to electricity consumption (Large User Abatement)
purchasing carbon credits that are produced from a range of verified projects diversifies the risks associated with individual projects or project classes (ie. portfolio theory).
